Medieval History Q&AQuestions answered here about the Middle Ages--Historical, Fictional and FancifulGot a question about the Middle Ages? Want to know the difference between feudalism and infidels? Ask here.
At the suggestion of a regular reader on this site, Judith Doloughan, I've decided to set up an ongoing Question and Answer discussion. You ask the question about Medieval History and I'll try to answer it in a paragraph. If it takes more than a paragraph and it's a good question, I'll consider doing an article or blog on it. Don't worry-I can do long paragraphs. Also, please feel free to participate in discussions at the end of any other articles. What most people in Canada, the U.S., Australia/New Zealand and Central and South America don't realize (and most people in Eurasia don't think about) is that Medieval History is living history. There's a very funny Kia car commercial in Britain that demonstrates this by satirizing the film The Wicker Man. The family on the picnic who bought the two-wheel drive car don't escape the rampaging hordes of cannibalistic pagan Vikings; the family with the four-wheel drive car run the hordes ragged all up and down hills that look remarkable like the Cairngorms in Scotland. Maybe this would only be funny in Europe, where a castle or a stone circle or a dolmen are only a few miles away, but history isn't dead when you can still make fun of it, as Monty Python have so aptly shown. I will bump the discussion below as necessary for anyone new to the site who wants to post a question. Have fun! Feel free to ask lots of questions!
